BSW 2017 will take place 10th - 19th March 2017.
MISSION TO MARS – This is the future of space exploration and who know, within our children’s lifetimes there may be a manned mission to Mars? Children will learn about this amazing planet as well as the ongoing search for signs of life there. They will get hands on learning about orbits and ‘sling-shot’ effect of space travel with their own ‘Gravity Assisted Launchers’ and of course build their own space rockets for launch on the day!
ROBOTICS – As well as building their own battery powered ‘jitterbug’ robots, children will learn about the different ways of powering the machines of the future. The limitations of our current renewable energy supply – solar, wind, tidal, wave, nuclear - as well as the problems with our current dependency on fossil fuels for power generation.
UNDERWATER – One of the last unexplored regions on our planet! Children will understand the challenges of human beings exploring life underwater, as well as finding some fantastic and bizarre life that does exist in the depths of the oceans. Children will get hands on building their own Cartesian divers and ‘soap powered’ boats.
